Important Economic Reports Due This Week That May Affect the Financial Markets
Wednesday we will receive the CPI numbers and on Thursday the PPI numbers get reported.
We also are to expect initial and continuing jobless claims this Thursday.
U.S. Retail sales numbers are due to come out at the end of the week, this Friday.
ALL this is data is going to be discussed ad nauseum over all financial news outlets, online and tv and everyone is going to do their best to ascertain what all this data means for the markets going forward and if this data helps give the Fed the info they need to then make their decision on future rate hikes.
If the data proves inflation is coming under control, maybe they won’t have to be as aggressive with their cuts and that may be the bullish catalyst the markets need to truly get ramping higher.
Should the data show the Fed still has a great challenge in front of them and the data is not where it needs to be to give the Fed confidence things are improving and its interpreted as they will still maintain their rate hikes the markets may sell off on that.
Earnings Season Kicks Off with Major Banks
Everyone paying attention to the stock market should know we are experiencing a reginal financial banking crisis and what that has done to that sector.
JP Morgan Chase (NYSE: JPM), Citigroup (C)and Wells Fargo (NYSE: WFC) all report at the end of this week. More banks and financials will continue to report in to the next week. It would be bullish to see and hear good numbers as well as optimistic forward-looking guidance for help in that sector and confidence in the markets overall.
Investors have their ears pinned back to see what the report is from these financial institutions regarding deposits and bank liquidity.
